Chip Cards

In the first week of September 2012 all MemberCard magnetic stripe cards will be replaced with chip technology. When you receive your new MemberCard chip card please start using it right away, to avoid interruptions in service. Stripe cards will continue to work for a short time only, to allow all members to receive and activate their new chip cards.

Why is my MemberCard stripe card being replaced?

To help reduce card skimming and fraud, Interac™ has mandated that all financial institutions in Canada replace their magnetic stripe cards with chip enabled cards before December 31, 2012. To meet this deadline Revelstoke Credit Union has been working on the chip replacement for the past year.

How will I know if I have a MemberCard chip card?

Your new MemberCard chip card will look like the image on this page, and has a gold coloured square (chip) on the left side of the front of the card. The card number begins with 5818 0927.
