Fred Olynyk Bursary

Revelstoke Credit Union values education and we believe by helping students with their education goals we can improve our community. Each year we offer the "Fred Olynyk Bursary" to help with the cost of post-secondary education. For detailed information please drop by our office or call (250) 837-6291 to speak with our scholarship coordinator. They will assist you in completing the process.

General Criteria:

  • The award amount is $2750.00
  • Students must provide the most up-to-date transcripts of their marks
  • The scholarship is payable upon receipt of proof of registration in a Post-Secondary institution within two years of the award
  • Students must produce a 250 word essay. The contest is open for six weeks each winter and the topic changes yearly. Interested applicants may call for the current topic
  • Scholarship applicants must be a Revelstoke Credit Union member since at least September of the previous year
  • Revelstoke Credit Union will select the successful applicant from all applications submitted

 To qualify for funding, applicants must also meet the following critera:

  • Be able to demonstrate financial need.
  • Reside in BC and be a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or designated as a protected person.
  • Have proof of post-secondary enrolment in an academic, vocational, technical, or technological program and transcripts. Please note: graduate and post-graduate students are not eligible.
  • Enrolment must be in a public Canadian post-secondary institution at the time of application. Applicants attending accredited private institutions will only be considered if their chosen program is not offered at a public institution. In this case, applicants must provide a statement as to why they are not attending a public institution, as well as a receipt for tuition.
